Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP)

Multiple positions are available. Specialized offers many different working arrangements including part-time, full-time, and “flex” positions. Flex positions allow for the most flexibility allowing the LSSP to conduct the assessment(s) on campus and write reports from home. Protocols and testing kits would be available for use from the Houston office or provided by the district.
Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
Minimum of 2 years experience as an LSSP or school psychologist
Able to practice without supervision
Able to pass the criminal history background check required by Texas Senate Bill 9
Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in assessment
The Licensed Specialist in School Psychology would be responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of results and participation in eligibility decisions for students with disabilities or suspected disabilities. The LSSP would evaluate the psychological needs of students referred for initial and re-evaluations by schools. The LSSP would be responsible for test administration, scoring, and developing reports. When requested, the LSSP would also be responsible for presenting the evaluation results to parents and ARD committee members. Occasional consultation with teachers, parents, support personnel and to outside agencies may be required. The LSSP would report to Specialized administrative staff.
Special Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of procedures for assessing emotional and behavioral functioning for educational purposes.
Working knowledge of special education federal regulations and Texas laws.
Use of best practice evaluation methods for determining Emotional Disturbance and Autism.
