Psychological assessment uses norm referenced tests, interviews, observation, and informal assessment to learn about a person and their behavior, personality and capabilities. Psychological testing is nearly always performed by a licensed psychologist, or psychological associate under supervision. Psychologists are the only profession that is expertly trained to perform and interpret psychological tests. All of our psychologists are licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Licensed Speech and Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists may also participate in the evaluation process.
Psychological testing can help students seeking special education services by determining the presence of Autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety Disorders (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or Panic Disorder), Depression and Bipolar Disorder, and Behavior disorders such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
