Position Overview

Specialized is looking for PRN Physical Therapists (PT) to service students in Houston area schools. Schedule is flexible, but services must be provided during the school day. Weekly time commitment is minimal. Locations include: South East Houston, and Acres Homes area.

Required Qualifications​

  • Graduate degree in physical therapy or related program

  • Valid Texas license granted by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a PT in a school or pediatric setting

  • Able to pass the criminal history background check required by Texas Senate Bill 9

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in assessment, therapy, and supervision



The Physical Therapist’s primary responsibilities would include direct therapy for students with physical disabilities, evaluation and interpretation of results and participation in eligibility decisions for students with disabilities or suspected disabilities at the campus. The PT would be responsible for test administration, scoring, and developing reports, and presenting the evaluation results to parents and ARD committee members. Occasional consultation with teachers, parents, support personnel and to outside agencies may be required. The PT would report to Specialized administrative staff.

Special Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of medical information and indications for physical therapy treatment

  • Skill in use of tests and measurements for assessing physical function

  • Ability to administer manual exercises and physical therapy treatments

  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Working knowledge of special education federal regulations and Texas laws.
